Hi! I’m Ashley and I am a birth & postpartum doula serving the Ottawa & Gatineau area. I provide expectant mothers and their families support, assistance and comfort through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.
I have been a massage therapist for eight years and have always been drawn to working with pregnant and postpartum clients. I became interested in doula work while pregnant with my first child and after having fabulous doula support during her birth, I decided to pursue birth doula training with DONA International. I soon followed that up with postpartum doula training. I have also done training with Mothercraft Ottawa, an organization with whom I am a volunteer birth companion.
I am also a member of The Ottawa Valley Doula’s Association. This means that I subscribe to certain Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. As a member in good standing with OVD, I hold an identification badge that permits me to be counted as part of your birthing care team when in one of the four major Ottawa hospitals. This means that I, as your doula, will always be permitted to accompany you to your birth and will not be counted as a visitor and subjected to protocols in place for family and visitors.
In growing my family, I have had vastly different birth experiences between my two children. These experiences, along with my training, have given me a good understanding in the different kinds of support needed for different kinds of births.
I support both medicated and natural births in all settings including hospitals, home births and birthing centers. My role is to help parents prepare and plan for the arrival of their baby, feel safe, empowered and supported through labor, birth, and in the following weeks, adjusting to life with their newborn. Second time or more parents can also benefit from labor and postpartum support.
Every doula is different and had something unique to offer. There is someone that will work for you. Please feel free to contact me directly to schedule a free, in person consultation to see if I would be an appropriate fit in supporting you. I look forward to walking with you into your journey to parenthood!
